The New Forest Full Marathon

About

Hello! Following my London Marathon in April, where I was delighted to raise funds for the Evie Dove Foundation who supported me to engage in further training in Family Therapy, I’m taking on another challenge and running the New Forest Marathon on the 13th of September! In the NHS, I have worked as a Specialist Clinical Psychologist within a community paediatric palliative care team for over three years, where I developed a particular passion for supporting families living with cancer and other life-limiting conditions. In September, I will be starting a new role as a Senior Clinical Psychologist within a paediatric oncology team, and the Evie Dove Foundation is generously supporting me to further develop my skills so that I can perform this role to the best of my ability. I’m incredibly grateful for their continued support and would love to use my passion for running to continue raising funds for this important charity. A cancer diagnosis can be profoundly disruptive to family life. It affects not only the child or young person receiving treatment, but parents, siblings and the wider family, often bringing uncertainty, fear, changes in roles and relationships, and significant emotional and practical challenges. The Foundation is supporting me to undertake a **two-year Diploma in Narrative Therapy from March 2027**, which will help me further develop my skills in working alongside families during these incredibly difficult times. Narrative Therapy is a respectful and empowering approach that recognises the expertise people and families have in their own lives. It draws on their strengths, relationships, values, hopes and resources, helping them to find ways of navigating some of life’s hardest experiences without allowing cancer to become the whole story of who they are. Every donation, however big or small, will help support the Foundation and its work, as well as my continued professional development so that I can offer skilled and meaningful psychological support to families affected by childhood cancer. Thank you so much for supporting me — now I just need to get myself through another 26.2 miles! 🏃‍♀️💙
