Welcome to Gameweek 11, a Friday night kick off so don’t forget to make those all important / completely unnecessary final changes to your team before the 18:30 deadline tonight!
Gameweek 10 was all a bit meh……. … if you had Cancelo you got 70-80 points, if you went without the man from Portugal you were more in the 50-60 point bracket – all resulting in ‘as you were’ at the head of affairs with ‘Wilsss Wanderers’, ‘Hotel? Thiago’, and ‘Toon Army’ continuing to hold the top three positions for the £300 cash prize.
An incredible 80% of you captained Haaland, with ‘Spirit of 58’, ‘Darwinning Theory’, ‘Triad Fire’ ‘Don’t believe hype’ all playing their Triple Captain, backing Haaland to get his 4th hat trick on the spin v Southampton’s leaky defence. Sadly the Norwegian could only produce the quite pathetic return of one goal, meaning respective points scores of 77, 75, 69 and 65, clearly he was affected by the growing petitions to have him removed from both the Premier League, and indeed the UK! It goes without saying therefore that the mighty ‘Neil Madrid’ continues to hold top spot in the Triple Captain stakes for the 10th week in a row – come on guys, 94 is the target, we must be able to reel him in?!
Also no change in the Free Hit stakes, ‘Tinchy Sneijder’ still cruising along on 84 points despite the best efforts of ‘DC United’ (62), ‘Burrell’s Bunch’ (75), ‘Drop Djed Fred’ (67) and the maverick ‘Eze Son-shine’ (69), who really let his hair down, and made the bold move of both Free Hitting and changing his team name in the same week – we will come back to you ‘Eze Son-shine’ on whether you throwing caution to the wind has paid off and got you into the top ten team names. Same for you ‘Cancelo Culture’ – good to see a few of you recognising that whilst the £300 top prize may be a distant dream, there are still other prizes to aim for!
Five wildcards played, notably ‘Fjirepit FC’ decided enough is enough with Firmino, bringing that love/hate relationship to a close. At the opposite end of the loyalty scale, good to see ‘Remi Garde’ rewarded with a nice 24 point haul from captain Martinelli, and ‘Redmen’ continuing to trust his starting line up – it was particularly heartwarming to see Jay Stansfield notch his first goal for Exeter City, a fine tribute to dad Adam, and of course to ‘Redmen’, with that goal delivering a solid zero points to everyone’s favourite team!
So that’s all for this week, buckle up and get ready for GW11……..let’s see if Salah is actually good at football again?
Thanks as ever from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation and don’t forget if you have not yet converted your pledge into a donation please can you get those tenners paid https://theeviedovefoundation.org/. Thank you!
