Gameweek 12

Here we go again, it’s a quick turnaround for GW12 with lots of decisions to be made, with no Arsenal, no Man City, and no James Maddison after a last gasp yellow card, later even than a Thiago tackle (how did he get away with that??)

We were treated to a pulsating game of football between Liverpool and Man City to round  off GW11, Klopp sent off, Guardiola incandescent with rage at a clearly correct VAR decision, and the biggest news of all – SALAH is BACK! As long as Klopp continues to play him centrally he is once again a viable FPL option, particularly now we will all be ditching expensive Man City assets. He is already the most ‘transferred in’ player this week, just ahead of Mount, another player starting to find some form, and Trossard whose Brighton team open proceedings against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night. Don’t forget the deadline is 18:00 on Tuesday.

Whilst GW11 was a low scoring week, we did at least see some action at the top of the Evie Dove League with recent leader ‘Wilsss Wanderers’ tumbling to 7th spot, leaving two former leaders ‘Hotel? Thiago’ and ‘Douglas Luiz dynamos’ vying for top spot, with the former inching ahead on 683 points, a score that also puts them inside the top 40k teams in the world – nice work HT, especially with 24 points sitting on the bench too!

Notably the goalkeepers went slightly crazy in GW11, bonus points, save points, clean sheets, a penalty save and even an assist – Alisson and Sa scoring 14 points, Guaita with 11 and Ramsdale, Raya and Arrizabalaga on 10 – sadly it was a bit of a theme this week that the higher scoring players were on the bench – over 10% of us benched these keepers, not to mention those of us that missed out on Pope and Wards 6 points too……….

……..Special mention however for ‘Scamaccaroni Cheese’ – 44 points scored in GW11, however another 32 on the bench – Alisson(14),  Rice (10), Trippier (6), N Williams (2) – ouch!!!! – thank goodness that Ivan Toney continued his audition for the England World Cup squad, or the bench would have outscored the team!! I’m not sure we’ve seen a higher amount of points left in reserve this season, but if you have topped it let me know – there might even be a mystery prize at stake!

It was a low chip week, teams clearly holding back in advance of the Arsenal v Man City blank. Four wildcards played, and just one Triple Captain from ‘Tuchel for School’. Whilst the 58 points left ‘Neil Madrid’ laughing dismissively for the tenth week running, I do think this TC deserves special mention –  Kieran Trippier. Defender. Away from home. At Old Trafford. That is a random TC!! Like your style ‘Tuchel for School’, almost taunting Man Utd, so confident were you clearly of a clean sheet!

So with GW11 wrapped up, the long anticipated GW12 is now upon us. I hope your best laid plans have not been too scuppered by injuries and/or suspensions, however just remember if you are chasing down getting 11 players on the pitch, think long and hard about your transfers. You may well want some of those players back immediately in GW13 so don’t get too sideswiped by this blank game week!

Finally, it was good to see more of those tenners coming in this week, just a few of you left out there now – if you get a chance during this hectic gameweek to make your donation that would be greatly appreciated – as ever thank you from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation and good luck for GW12
