Gameweek 23

Here we go again, what a Double Gameweek 22 that was! As anticipated ‘Dom is below me’ faced an onslaught of Triple Captain Chips, with 24 of you throwing your Marcus Rashford shaped hat in the ring, aiming to beat the current leading points tally of 97………..and on the basis he got 60 points just on his own, it went rather well!

So firstly……. special mentions for father and son duo ‘Douglas Luiz dynamos’ and ‘MarcRashfood.com, who smashed the previous leader out of the water, both scoring a magnificent 107 points, benefitting not only from placing the armband on the in-form Mancunian, but also from his sidekick Bruno, from Ben Mees heroic header and clean sheet, and Harry Kane’s record breaking goal, which was loudly celebrated in all corners of North London! 

Joining ‘Douglas’ and ‘Marc’ on 107 points we also had a Rashford + Fernandes + Arrizabalaga powered  ‘Finding Timo’, and ‘Hotel? Thiago’. Great scores guys, very well done, however………

…….Weighing in with an astonishing 113 points we have ‘Canary Muff’. Having already shown their promise with a very creditable Free Hit earlier in the season, they once again showed us they are a force to be reckoned with, ‘when the chips are down’…..the Brighton combo worked a dream with Mitoma and Dunk both delivering, what a shame you did not go for the triple up – heartbreaking to see Sanchez’s 8 points on the bench………that misjudgement left the door open for………

…….’Cheesy Iheanachos’ to strut through, with an eye watering 115 points……… many mocked ‘Cheesy’ in GW20 for playing their wildcard so soon after the World Cup break, but now who’s having the last laugh? Top scorer in GW21, and now the front runner for the ‘£125 Best Triple Captain GW score’. Congratulations ‘Cheesy’, that is a mightyly impressive target you have set – it seems ridiculous now that we were once lauding ‘Neil Madrid’ for his 17 week run on 94 points!!

And of course the gameweek wasn’t just about the triple captain chip, hats off too to ‘Nemos Wonky Fins’ who soared into 121st position with a huge 97 points, no chip required, nice work ‘Nemo’! As for our leaders, ‘Siuuuu you later’ remained in pole position on 1404 points, closely followed by ‘Romford Rejects’ and ‘Finding Timo’, both on 1390 points. It was also a week which reminded us of the highs and lows of being a football team manager which of course we all know only too well…..

….for Sean Dyche it was elation, as he reminded everyone that there is no need to overcomplicate things, keep it simple, get a couple of old mates together and just get them to continually launch it to the back post – BOSH, job done………..By the way sorry to mention the Tarkowski goal ‘Kinder Mbuemo’….you wait all that time for a mention in the weekly email and when it happens it’s because you left the 15 point defender in 15th place on your squad…..ouch!!! 

Anyway, back to the managers….….for Jesse Marsch, it was despondency as he finally got the long overdue elbow from Leeds, not even making it to the second match of the double gameweek, I guess the signs were there as soon as he got active on Linked In a few weeks ago…….. 

…….and for Nathan Jones, it was complete and utter madness as he accompanied Southampton’s slump to the bottom of the table with the look of a haunted man, giving us all a reminder that he was one of the (self proclaimed) best managers in Europe during his time at Luton Town……….time to work on your Linked In profile I reckon Nathan…..

So managers, forwards to GW23, will you be this week’s Sean Dyche or Nathan Jones??……….Time to start off-loading the GW25 Blank Gameweek players and it’s a Double Gameweek Clash of the Titans, so also time to load up on Man City and Arsenal – I’m expecting to see plenty of those TC chips land on Erling Haaland for his matches against Villa & Arsenal – 115 points the target to beat, £125 at stake!
