Gameweek 24

Well farewell Gameweek 23, a week full of VAR controversies, PGMOL apologies, chaotic defending (pick your favourite moment between Bednarek’s fantastically comical own goal, Castagne rounding Ward and almost shooting into his own net, and Soucek palming one round the post), the inevitable sacking of Nathan Jones as he took his place in the top ten shortest ever Premiership reigns, and the even more inevitable annual Man City graceful glide to the summit. A week I’m sure that the referees are keen to see the back off, some would say they’d like to ‘draw a line’ under it, but unfortunately that may prove to be beyond them!

In the Evie Dove Foundation League, it was all a bit calmer, as ‘Siuuuu you later’ maintained top spot for the sixth week running, closely followed by ‘Top 2 & we ain’t 2’ and ‘Hotel? Thiago’, all gunning for the £300 top prize.

Some cracking gameweek scores too – great to see ‘Scamaccaroni Cheese’ up there with 99 points, some were speculating there was no way back for ‘Scamaccaroni’ after the GW16 Triple Captain 31 point debacle, but he stuck it to his doubters………Well done also ‘WhogivesaFC’, also on 99 points and  who for the first time this season thought he had got high score of the gameweek, only to be put firmly back in his place by Mrs ‘WhogivesaFC’ also known as ‘Ilovefootballfc’, congratulations to you with an incredible gameweek score of 107 points and thank you so much for choosing this particular gameweek to pull out all the stops :-)!!

As anticipated, several of you rolled the Triple Captain dice, with eight of you going for that man Haaland, the pick of the bunch being ‘Slab Head United’ and Free Hit leader ‘Gylo’s Galacticos’ both with 94 points, however all of you were trumped by ‘Jamilios gems’ going against the grain on Triple Captain Saka, delivering 95 points. Some great scores, but sadly not enough to land even the slightest of punches on ‘Cheesy Iheanachos’ who remains in pole position for the £125 prize…….Not to worry, more double gameweeks on the horizon, and over 50 Triple Captain Chips still to be played!

Four of you hit the Bench Boost button, with ‘Lloris the hounds’ and ‘Forest in the Prem!’ benefitting from an extra 22 and 21 points respectively. I’m sure many of you reminisce regularly about the epic GW15, when ‘Forest in the Prem!’ left a staggering 38 points on the bench, good to see them finally deal with a few of those demons ………also this week ‘Turners x 11’ had a bash at ‘Forest’s’  highest points left on the bench title, but fell  short leaving only 31 points in reserve, with only Mbuemo on 2 points letting him down alongside De Gea(10), March (10) and Toney(9)….. p.s. ‘Turners x 11’ you need to start clearing the decks urgently – none of those players will  feature in Blank GW25!!

So now for GW24  a lovely simple, single gameweek, however don’t relax too much, it’s not only ‘Turner’ that needs to start planning ahead for GW25…..all of you need to get your thinking caps on………… not only will it be a Blank for Man Utd, Newcastle, Brentord and Brighton, but you’ll also need to take your Double GW picks from out of form Arsenal with 1 point from 9, from in-form Wolves with two successive wins and from Everton and Liverpool (no idea whether they are in form or out of form!).

Good luck everyone, and all the best from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation.
