Gameweek 29

And there we have it…….28 Gameweeks into the season and finally a manager has stuck his head above the parapet and said what we’ve all been thinking about our teams….selfish, lacking fire in the eyes, struggling to cope under pressure…….we know Antonio, we know and we absolutely feel your pain, at least now you’ve been put out of your misery, while for the rest of us we’ve got to slog on for another ten gameweeks!!!

That said, the reality is we are all gluttons for punishment us football managers, and we just keep coming back for more, just like our old friend Roy, as the clocks change and spring is in the air, he’s dusted off his sunglasses, and just like that he’s back on the throne at the Palace, bringing a lovely sense of cosy familiarity to proceedings!…… Clearly news of the removal of the £1m pension cap has filtered through to Croydon, and he’s back for a little top up!

A quick round up on GW28, as expected it was pretty low scoring, with 33 the average. Top score in the Evie Dove Foundation league was shared by ‘Jamilio gems’ and ‘Blaising Squad’ both notching 75 points from well played wildcards…..meanwhile ten teams passed up the chance of contesting the £125 prize by playing a defensive Free Hit Chip, pick of the bunch was ‘Run of the Milner’ on 67 points. Longtime leader ‘ Siuuuu you later’ also played the chip tactically, bringing in a very solid score of 58 points despite leaving 14 Aston Villa coloured points on the bench to retain the overall lead on 1839 points. Tucked in behind on 1831 points is  ‘Studley Constable FC’ who, (inevitably unbeknown to their team manager) moved with stealth to within 8 points of the top, and slightly further back on 1823 points is  ‘Hotel? Thiago’ who have been hanging around the top ten for most of the season. All to play for there as the final straight hoves into view……..

In terms of captains, 50 of you went for Captain Kane, who rewarded you with a 6 pointer as he warmed up for his record breaking international double…….. 23 of you remained loyal to Haaland even though City did not have a game, albeit to be fair he is that good it was probably a good move to have him covered! However, this week’s standout winners were the 21 teams that went for the man of the moment, Bukayo Saka, duly rewarded with a 36 pointer, meaning he single handedly beat the average score for the gameweek! Well done to all of you, great choice!

And now on we go to GW29, fully rested from the international break, we go headlong into a MASSIVE gameweek featuring 16 games, double gameweeks for Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Man Utd, Brentford, Brighton, Leeds, Leicester, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool…….fire up those bench boost chips and take your pick out of that lot!! The deadline is Saturday morning at 11, then sit back and enjoy five solid days of football!!

Have a great GW everyone, and all the best from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation
