Gameweek 2 is behind us – an incident packed week with Tuchel v Conte and Darwin v Andersen setting the tone for what is going to be a very competitive season!
Big shout out to ‘Cheesy Iheanachos’ – top of the Evie Dove league with a very respectable 166 points, and a pledge made to the Evie Dove Foundation – that’s a combination that puts him in early pole position for the £300 overall winner prize! Also just outside the top 10k overall, out of an amazing 9.2 million teams! Chapeau!
Big up also to ‘Forest in the Prem!’ – a gameweek high score of 92 sees them tucked away nicely in second place in our league on 163 points.
I was also delighted to see that you are a far smarter bunch than I gave you credit for in last week’s update, with less than 50% of you opting for Haaland as captain – good move!! I was particularly impressed that eleven of you went for Jesus, netting a massive 38 points, three of you for De Bruyne, snaffling 28 points, and a couple of nice differentials in Cancelo and Diaz netting 22 and 18 points respectively. Nice work guys.
You might also recall that Neil Madrid set the Triple Captain team score bar at 94, and I urged you to use that chip wisely. I’m afraid to say that a few of you completely ignored my advice, with three of you opting for Haaland triple captain – take a bow ‘SSNIT’ ‘Birdy’ and “Haven’t Jota Clue’ – securing team scores of 49, 63, and 54 respectively. Centre stage however goes to ‘Mean Machine’ who went all in on none other than Darwin, securing a massive MINUS 6 points, contributing to an overall team score of 45 points! Commiserations ‘Mean Machine – you were in good company with 9 other teams also captaining Liverpool’s latest Uruguayan hothead, but you were the only team to go for the big triple!! Sadly guys you are now out of the running for the £125 Triple Captain prize but plenty more to aim for – even £50 for best team name is still out there, albeit maybe Darwinsared and Darwin’s Win Theory want to have a rethink??!…………
Also great to see some of you completely throwing caution to the wind, and bulldozing through all that careful pre-season planning – Two Bench Boosts and three wildcards played in gameweek 2, plus a special mention for ‘Lets Be Avenue’ making a massive seven transfers – no messing about there!
Welcome also to some new teams that joined us in gameweek 2, five of you submitted a team with no gameweek 1 score – and there were some cracking results – in particular – Mr Supersub, purple reign, and Loudon’s lionhearts scoring 83, 77, and 75 points respectively – well done guys and welcome to the league – all to play for with that kind of start! We also say hello to Mark Clattenburg – great to have an ex Prem referee (or at least his namesake) amongst our ranks!
That’s almost it on my round up of gameweek 2 – all that remains is for me to give what has potential to be a weekly shout out to ‘Redmen’ – I love this team – not satisfied with being the only team ever to move into minus points in the total score column, I am also absolutely loving your insistence on not only playing Schmeichel in goal every week, but also giving him the vice captain armband. Keeping your finger right on the pulse there my friend 🙂
So here we go – bring on gameweek 3 – let the fun and games commence – I’m sensing a few more wildcards this week – let’s see…….
Thanks again from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation
