Wow…..that was quite a week……we had been building up to Double Gameweek 34 for several weeks and it did not disappoint!!…….And as predicted we have some new contenders for the Evie Dove Foundation League prize fund. More on that later…….
Before we get to that, it’s been an amazing week in the world of Premier League Managers………In these times of rapid change, and the endless march of AI, it’s reassuring that some things never change……..welcome back ‘Big Sam’, joining old friends Roy, Sean, and Super Frankie at the top table……. Honestly, you could not make this up……in particular his opening press conference in which, as well as berating the judicial system of the United Kingdom for its clear misjudgement in not releasing Sammy Lee from his civic responsibilities, he put himself right up there alongside Klopp, Pep and Arteta……. At least he qualified his statement………. “Not saying I’m better than them but I’m as good as them.”………that was definitely a helpful clarification from the 68 year old……….. to have claimed he was better than them would clearly have been outlandish!!
Then there was undoubtedly one of my favourite moments of the season………..Jurgen Klopp, at the relatively tender age of 55 showing all of his inexperience, completely forgetting to stretch before maniacally gloating in the face of officialdom! Big Sam must have been sitting back chuckling to himself…….Premier League Manager 1.0!!
Anyway, back to the ‘Evie Dove Foundation League’ and in what is fast becoming the story of the season, ‘Clatts FC’ once again showboated their way through another gameweek……87 points off the back of doing………..absolutely nothing!…….Actually, that’s not entirely true, they did bench ‘Kane’ as clearly playing the leading England International goalscorer of all time, would simply be too obvious! Keep going Clatts’ i.e. keep doing nothing……… only 4 GWs and 176 points to go………
In other news, team of the week ‘Champagne Pepe’ went all out for the top Gameweek Score with an impressive Bench Boost powered 143 points……unfortunately falling just short of ‘Romford Rejects’ & ‘Nov’s Nomad’ 147 points from GW29, only 4 games to go….can you hold on???
Two of you had very patiently kept hold of your Free Hits, ‘Gimme Moore’ and ‘Dom is below me’ both giving it their best shot on 110 and 115 points respectively, however ‘R’s Ez dub’ – 130 point haul survives – surely this is now as unassailable as ‘Studley Constable’ 40 point lead over ‘Siuuuu you later’ and ‘Crystal Pellis’ in the Evie Dove Foundation League. Don’t start celebrating yet, but you are close……very, very close!!
We also saw 14 Triple Captain Chips, all on record breaking Erling Haaland for a tasty 48 points, some fine efforts from ‘Puyol Pants Down’ and ‘ WhogivesaFC’, with 125 and 123 points respectively however top of the pile was ‘Dirty Martinez’ benefitting from Mac Allister’s last kick of the game week, to amass a massive 132 points!! This meant ‘Cheesy Iheanachos’ & ‘MBF’ were given their marching orders for the £125 prize, better luck next season guys, and welcome to the fray ‘Dirty Martinez’, who were also involved in a momentous Cup match eventually coming out on top against ‘The Golden Mile’, whose 119 points was good but not good enough! Into the round of 16 we go in the Evie Dove Foundation Cup – the draw has been made, good luck to all involved.
