Gameweek 23

Like Marcus Rashford getting to training after a night out in Belfast, it’s another very tight turnaround! ………..Gameweek 23 is here, the deadline is this morning at 11:00 so let’s go!!………

Firstly big congratulations to ‘Golden Pickles’ who scooped the January £50 prize….there were only two gameweeks, however you can’t argue with the style in which ‘Pickles’ leapt to the top of the pile with an impressive 94 points in GW22, almost double the average score for the GW……… Amazingly ‘Pickles’ went against the grain keeping both Salah and Son in the squad and on the bench……. benefitting from points sprees from vice captain Eze (28), Schar (17), Alvarez (13), Hojlund (10) and Szobozlai (9). A big relief that captain Kyle Walker fell foul of Pep roulette! Very well done ‘Pickles’, £50 on it’s way to you…….

At the top of the league we have a new leader!!!! Step forward ‘Witty Name’, a tidy 67 points powered by captain Alvarez………maybe ‘Sonny & Schar’ are not going to have it all their own way?…….

Meanwhile, let’s all spare a thought for our fellow Fantasy Football players ‘Evan Almighty’, ‘Klopp or Ball?’, ‘MGB FC’, ‘MarkRashfood.com’, ‘Nkunku carry’, ‘Willowbank City’, ‘Dan’s Drifters’, ‘Lloris the Hounds’……………These eight desperately hapless teams, all had the misfortune of selecting Darwin Nunez as their captain……with ‘Lloris the Hounds’ suffering the extra ignominy of brining him in on a ‘Free Hit”!

To be fair, giving the chaotic Uruguayan the armband is a gamble any week……..however this week he excelled himself hitting the frame of the goal 4 (four) times………..right foot, left foot, penalty, header……at the same time setting a Premier League record. You will be  pleased to hear that he is potentially injured for GW23……!!! 

Amazingly however Darwin’s woodwork fest was not the most painful interaction with the goal this week, that honour of course going to Alex Moreno………. watch this if you dare gents (scroll to 8 minutes)……. ‘minus one’ was an appropriate number of Fantasy Football points as that’s what he almost ended up with himself………https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThodLufV_vg

That’s almost it for GW22 ,which also saw an inspired ‘Bench Boost’ from ‘Howe About It’ – when you’ve got a world cup winner on your bench that’s the way to go – Julian Alvarez contributing to a lovely bonus of 22 points, and a nice ‘Triple Captain’ 30 pointer from ‘Woodchoppers’ who came up trumps with captain Hojlund in the last game of the GW…….. However ‘Hakuna Mateta’s’ top GW score of 110 is still standing firm……we are all going to have to up our game to reel that one in!

Onto GW23……….Haaland is back………have you transferred him in, or are you gambling on a slow return????
