Gameweek 24

Gameweek 23 is done and the champ is back on top of the league……..’Sonny & Schar’ reclaiming top spot with an authoritative 87 points……..however there are I am sure twists and turns to come………..you can’t win the league in February ……..put that camera down Martin…….. there are still 15 games to go……!!

Captain of the week was Haaland, 70 teams giving him the armband as soon as he returned (20 points), 35 of you hedged your bets with De Bruyne (10 points), and 31 teams went for Watkins, rewarded with three assists and a goal courtesy of a Douglas Luiz assist of the season contender (36 points).

Player of the week was Phil Foden contributing 20 points, however ‘Witty Name’ and ‘Crystal Pellis’ were two of the five teams that had the Man City star on the bench, enough for both teams to drop out of the previous week’s top three………..Biggest tale of bench woe however goes to ‘Dan’s PL XI’ who managed to miss out on Cunhas hat trick (17 points) but benefit from Olisses ten minutes between pulled hamstrings (1 point)! Another tough week for our old friend Roy Hodgson, THAT substitution at 3-0 down, the banners were out again, and spritely 75 year old Neil Warnock picked up the Aberdeen job, closing down a potential new opportunity when the inevitable happens!!!!

Back to Foden, well done to all of you that had him in your side, in particular ‘Old Kavertz Kai Hard’ one of four teams to give him the armband (40 points), and the latest team to have a bash at ‘Hakuna Mateta’……………. once again however the top GW score of 110 points from all the way back in Gameweek 6 remains intact……. ‘Kai’s’ 104 points falling just short.

Maybe now we finally have some double gameweeks on the horizon we will finally see a new ‘Top Gameweek’ leader??……….Liverpool v Brentford and Luton in Gameweek 25 anybody?!

Before we get to that we’ve got GW24 kicking off with Man City v Everton, and an 11:00 Saturday morning deadline. Could we start the weekend with a bang with all those Haaland, De Bruyne, Foden combos that everyone seems to have right now??!!
