Gameweek 8

“Check complete……..Perfect”………..Gameweek 7 is done!

More importantly September is done……..and we have a new winner of the £50 monthly prize!!…….It was an almighty tussle, with  ‘Can I have Aguerd?’ going for broke with Triple Captain Morris, throwing caution to the wind like a man on an electric scooter in lederhosen……. whilst alongside this ‘Lucas team’ threw in a bench boost in the quest for the big cash prize. However sadly the chip strategy did not quite pay off this time, as surging through from 7th place last week, we say congratulations ‘Vic Victors’ with a fantastic gameweek score of 80 points, and a September score of 305 points…..very well done, your cash is on it’s way to you!!

As for the rest of you, really it was a gameweek that all depended on the captain you chose……hats off to the five teams that captained Odergaard – that’s a massive 34 points, you must have been delighted to see Saka handing out penalties to his mates! A special mention for ‘Gambos Gunners’ who scored an Odergaard powered  87 points but yet somehow remains rooted to the bottom of the table – not sure what is going on there!!

However whilst Odergaard was good, Watkins was even better……sorry for mentioning this ‘Burrells Boys’ I could not help but spot him on your bench!!…………….In total eight teams had Watkins as captain delivering an incredible 46 points! That included top scorer of the gameweek with ‘Team Feaver’, reaching ‘Feaver’ pitch and coming in with a massive 99 points, that is a very  impressive wildcard!!

Another special mention also to another Watkins captainer……… ‘The Bongy Allstars’ coming in with a very tidy 77 points……..not bad considering that team manager is pretty busy right now spending a year walking around Britain!!!

More on that story here if you’d like to track his progress!

As for Haaland……..175 of you were left disappointed……..I’m intrigued to see what happens this week with a tough fixture away to Arsenal, do you or don’t you……..???

‘Jonjo’ and ‘Sky Blue Army’ threw in their Free Hits, sadly to no avail, leaving the mysterious ‘X’ still in the lead for that particular prize however it is only a matter of time until that score is beaten…….. Meanwhile two teams  teams had a go at knocking ‘Jesus Rice’st’ off top spot in the ‘You’ve had a mare stakes’, with ‘Victorious Secret’ and ‘Goals Aloud’ both falling just short with 30 points on the bench, the latter matching their actual GW score which is no mean feat!

Yet again it was another week of minus points too……..amazingly over 50% of us lost 2 points due to Estupinan’s own goal……….however we can all take some solace in the fact ‘Show Me Da Mane’ took one for the team by as well as fielding Estupinan, they also had Jota (minus two points for sending off) and Ruben (minus one point for own goal). Five points lost, that hurts!!!!

And finally…….”delay, delay” ………we can’t end this newsletter without checking in on Tottenham v Liverpool…….. what a match and what a controversy!! From my point of view not only is it VAR that needs looking at…… surely we’ve also got to be thinking about points for the ‘assist of the assist’ in Fantasy Football – those balls by Maddison and Szoboszlai for the first two goals were absolute beauts, but we got absolutely nothing for them……….time for change I think!!!

That’s all for this week, roll on Gameweek 8, I’ve heard a rumour that quite a few wildcards have been activated!…….

Good luck everyone and all the best from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation.
