Ok another international break done……. good to have that out of the way……..Lee Carsley out, Thomas Tuchel in……….precarious game this football management lark……you’d think the Carsley approach of putting all the best players in your team irrespective of what position they play week in week out would pay off but clearly not……..let that be a lesson to us all!!
Gameweek 7 feels like a long time ago but as a brief reminder………Liverpool stayed top despite the lunchtime kick off………Brentford scored their weekly early goal…….Leicester became the first promoted team to pick up a win after twenty one games between them……….Anthony Gordon’s much talked about (by AG himself) ‘penalty process’ crumbled in front of a baying Everton crowd……..West Ham kicked into gear and Kudus finally got to sit in his chair (don’t let Pep near that)………Man City took their generosity to the next level, not only did they give away their obligatory one goal lead (Arsenal exempted), but they also gifted Adama Traore with the freedom of the Etihad…..and yet still they won……..albeit a second blank in a row for Haaland…….commiserations to the 129 of you that gave him the armband……Wolves and Southampton up next…….non Haaland owners be afraid…….be very afraid…….!!
In the Evie Dove League ‘EnzOh No You Didn’t’ and ‘I hate Nim’bees’ stayed in first and second whilst ‘Might De Ligt Later’ eased into 3rd spot with a tidy 71 points in what was generally a low scoring gameweek, an average of 46 points the lowest of the season so far……..meanwhile in the ‘Clattenburg Trophy’ last years champ ‘Cook Burns Johnson’ is right in the mix, just one point behind ‘Onana Nana’, with ‘Van de ven diagram’ completing the top trio.
Other than that it is pretty much as you were…..a solitary 33 point ‘Free Hit’ from ‘Fiddler on the Huth’ did not land a punch on ‘Lucas team’…..whilst Haaland triple captains for ‘Flying without Ings’, ‘The Cracky Bells’, ‘Ange Weaselio’, and ‘twin it to win it’ fared little better…… at least ‘On the beers son’ notched 18 points with a Cole Palmer TC,……one just about acceptable chip played in GW7!
Been a while since I’ve mentioned the side bets, there are a couple running that I’m aware of with all proceeds going to the Foundation – feel free to get involved if you’ve got a close rival and fancy making it interesting……..hopefully you’ll fare better than ‘Birdy’ and ‘Sambuca Boys’ are doing so far…….scores in the table below!!
So GW8 is almost here, back to business post those dreaded internationals………your deadline is 11:00 on Saturday morning, expecting a few wildcards this week.
Good luck everyone and all the best from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation.
