Second half of the season is underway, and the new wildcard was welcomed with open arms……….13 teams unburdened themselves from the players that had been holding them back and got a whole shiny new squad……pick of the bunch was Mr 55p with 90 points, which put them in second place in the January stakes, just tucked in behind so so soucek it out with a huge 97 points powered by Kerkez (12), Captain Salah (14), Palmer (10), and Mbeumo (19)……..fantastic start to the new month with another prize pot of £50 available!
Also good to see sleeping giants, and local rivals Finding Timo and Inter Pizza neck and neck in sixth position, as well as ktfc grabbing their first mention of the season as they sneak into the January reckoning!
Before I move on from the wildcards…….shame on you Eze Good Eze Good…….bet you thought I would never spot Mateta (8 points) tucked away on your bench whilst Nicholas Jackson (2 points) made the first eleven!!………….
At the top of the league Endo the Line and Netflix and Chilwell continued to hold the top two spots……and welcome back to the party Hardly Athletic………our league leader from gameweek 2…..showing great consistency to still be right up there…..meanwhile in the Clattenburg Trophy Cook Burns Johnson accelerated effortlessly into a dominant lead over Chaddy’s Champs and Men with ven courtesy of captain Haaland………..one of only 32 teams to keep the faith with the recently misfiring Norwegian, who repaid that loyalty with a very tidy 26 captaincy points.
Unsurprisingly the most popular captain of the week was the Egyptian King Mo Salah, with a huge 139 teams giving him the armband, including four ‘Triple Captains’, all of whom were expecting to see him get a hatful against relegation threatened Man Utd……..it did not quite play out however…..14 points, or 21 points for those triples was a lower than hoped for return. A shout out also for Buster B and Dontnowwhatimdoing who ignored the appeal of Salah or Haaland and bagged a lovely 38 points on captain Mbeumo, nice differential and the very opposite of Sloppy who lived up to their name by leaving 19 point Mbeumo on the bench……ouch……. a fate avoided by four teams that played their Bench Boost……and the leader of the pack was Bazball picking up a massive extra 25 points……powered once again by that man Mbeumo……how good is that……you leave the top scorer of the week on your bench but you’ve played your bench boost…….is there any better feeling than that??!!
Talking of the bench, this week saw our very first Evie Dove Foundation Fantasy Football League confession…………in GW17 I reported that YouGottaRohlWithIt had managed to leave 32 points going begging………however after weeks of sleepless nights riddled with guilt this week they turned themselves in and pointed out that my maths was a bit awry and they did in fact leave 34 points on their bench……..thank you for your honesty YouGottaRohlWithIt ………your reward is that you find yourself back on the roll of honour alongside Palmer Violets!!
And the final chip of the gameweek was played Norfolk and Chance…….whilst everyone else was wildcarding, triple captaining and bench boosting, they stole a march by being the only team to play their ‘Free Hit’……….to great effect…….it turns out you actually have every chance……of winning the £50 top prize!! Bye bye Lucas team……your 75 points was seen and raised by Norfolk on 78 points……….welcome to the new Free Hit leader!!!
And so onto Gameweek 21…….you have a few days……it is FA Cup this weekend so your deadline is actually Tuesday 14th Jan at 18:00……..enjoy a very relaxing weekend and all the best from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation
