Gameweek 17

Boom!!……to date its been all about going big at the back…… but in GW16 the midfielders finally took centre stage with some massive hauls……none more so than in our Evie Dove League team of the week In the Mudryk, who smashed the previous highest gameweek score with a huge 111 points….check out this midfield, it truly is a thing of beauty…….

Joining them in the 100 club were Sambuca Boys and Phil Babb’s Ball (brings a tear to the eye) both on 105 points, and Wirtz Nightmare with 100 points……well done to you all, a triple figure GW score is always a fine achievement…….Talking of triples, seven Evie Dove teams rolled out their Triple Captain chip, one of them on Eze, who got hooked just before the 60 minute mark for a miserable 3 pointer, the other six on Saka who somehow found his way to 33 points courtesy of assists for not one, but two own goals………according to ChatGPT this is the first time in the history of FPL that this has ever happened

“there are no documented examplesof a player receiving two such assist awards from two separate own goals in the same match in the history of FPL. Comprehensive historical stats from official and fan-compiled FPL datasets do not list any such occurrence”

So you rode your luck Saka triple captainers, but well done nonetheless…..good use of the chip! Amazingly neither of those two were the best own goal of the week…..that accolade clearly goes to Woltemade of the ‘Visitors’……..what a peach of a finish!

Player of the week was Callum Hudson-Odoi with 19 points…..incredibly out of 253 Evie Dove teams only one team was smart enough to have him in their squad, step forward SPG………and then promptly step back again as sadly prior to kick off you transferred him out and replaced him with Mbeumo, who went on to score two points, and then jumped on a plane to Africa! Don’t you wish sometimes you just went for the Clattenburg Trophy?!……..Here our leader Chaddy’s Champs ploughed on with only 12 fit players, zero changes, and still managed to retain their lead and notch another solid gameweek score of 67 points, comfortably above the average of 60. Nice work Chaddy, keep kicking back and enjoying the season!

Back to the chips, good to see them being used up before they run out at the end of GW19………on top of the triple captains we also saw 13 Bench Boosts, the best one coming from Wirtz Case Scenario defying their team name by adding a nifty 23 points onto their score……4 Wildcards (5 free transfers clearly was not enough!), and 17 Free Hits from which we inevitably saw a new Free Hit highest score of 95 points……well done Long Pond Sports XI and farewell reds on the up!

As for the captains 86 of you kept faith with Haaland and he duly rewarded you with his seventh double digit haul of the campaign…..66 of you went for Saka… thats been covered…..you got lucky…..even the powers that be at FPL withdrew his assist points halfway through the game as they were not quite sure what was going on but eventually sense was seen…..and 9 of you welcomed Mo back from under his bus, and he paid you back with an assist….were those his last ever points in FPL?….We shall see……. 

In the December stakes, DragonsRevenge breathed fire on the pack and took the lead with two festive gameweeks to go, albeit plenty to play for with a mere 21 points separating the top 10, wide open for a Christmas charge at the cash prizes!

And at the top of the league it was It’s who we are mate who made the biggest move into second place off the back of an 85 pointer, splitting league leader Warthog Dukes and third place Tymon for Stoppages.

So Gameweek 17 is almost here………..just 3 more gameweeks (17,18 and 19) until you any remaining chips will be removed and replaced with a whole new set for the second half of the season. So if you do have a Bench Boost, Free Hit, Triple Captain or even a Wildcard still hovering around, use them or lose them!
