Gameweek 31

Gameweek 30 done…….and when Ross Barkley is the highest scorer of the week on 12 points you know its been an average FPL week……..

That said it was anything but an average Premier League week……it was the week that will stay long in the memory for that GOAL by Max Dowman……what a moment that was at 16 years and 73 days old…..imagine that feeling as he was running through on goal with literally no-one in front of him………in terms of iconic status this one has all the hallmarks of being up there with Wayne Rooney’s first goal, which similarly was against the England goalkeeper of the time, albeit in that instance he was actually between the sticks!

There was a quiz on the BBC sport website to identify the other nine Premier League youngest scorers, no surprise Rooney and Owen were in there……however if you can get all of them your football knowledge trumps mine……..spoiler alert……answers are below!

The other magical moment that will also stay with us for some time was of course the HUDDLE…….the stand off between Cole Palmer and Paul Tierney was just brilliant……just like Dowman’s goal, I could watch this over and over again………….what on earth was Liam Rosenior talking about when he said “My players made the decision that they wanted to be around the ball, to respect the ball, and show unity and leadership”…….to respect the ball??????? A low point in his short Premier League managerial career!

Back to FPL, the March stakes are hotting up with Stone Cross FC leading the way, followed by team of the gameweek Jamilio’s Gems, with Howe’s the Bacon tucked in behind…..two gameweeks to go so all to play for in the next round of cash prizes.

And talking of cash prizes, just a reminder that GW31 is the first week of the Evie Dove Foundation Cup……which means that every gameweek from now on you will go head to head with one of your fellow team managers……the overall winner takes all….a cash prize of £50 to play for.

And of course GW31 also brings the long awaited Blank Gameweek……for those of you that saved up your Free Hit well done……..for those of you that didn’t god speed! And just to add a bit more panic into the mix…….its a Friday evening 18:30 deadline so you’d best crack on!

Have a good one everybody, and all the best from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation.
