Gameweek 4

And the international break is done, time to get those teams back into shape……still no Palmer…..still no Saka……does this mean it is time to go all on Haaland fresh off of his five goal haul against Moldova, and of course there is a tasty fixture for league leaders Liverpool too away at Burnley……expecting a few triple Liverpools this weekend, or maybe even a quadruple if anyone jumped in on Isak pre transfer??

Gameweek 3 was ages ago so just to refresh your memories here is what happened in the Prem…….. the first big clash of the teams in the running for the title went Liverpool’s way, finally they managed to win a game without the need for dramatic late drama…….Tottenham’s early Frank powered charge for the title hit the buffers against a Bournemouth team that keeps on going despite selling most of their defence…….three games in and we got our first PGMOL apology at Stamford Bridge……poor old Fulham on the receiving end this time…and newbies Sunderland and Leeds managed to pick up three and one point respectively, maybe the three promoted teams will not be the three that go down this season? Burnley almost completed the hat trick at Old Trafford……. it looked like Amorim was going to have to grab hold of that microphone and make another apology to the crowd until Bruno cropped up with a last minute penalty. Having missed one the week before, and gone out of the EFL Cup to Grimsby on pens, the pressure was on but he came up with the goods. At the Hill Dickinson, Grealish is back…..we are left to wonder how good a player he might have been had he not been shackled at Man City for many years……talking of which the pressure is on at the Etihad with two losses out of three…..could Guardiola be following Nuno out of the door as the sackings begin!? Unai Emery may also be throwing his hat in the ring…..he worked wonders at Villa last year but something is clearly not right so far this season……maybe transfer day signings Elliot, Sancho and Lindelof will help to fix that.

As for the Evie Dove League, Playing the Channels romped to victory in the August stakes…..a nice £25 win for you……closely followed by We Go Again and Tymon for Stoppages who both had great weeks despite leaving 21 and 24 points on the bench respectively……bad selection or just the sign of a very healthy squad?? Lets go with the latter given their position in the league!  £15 and £10 wins for you two teams, very well done.

Amazingly in the top 10 we have two teams that look like they are gunning for the Clattenburg Trophy……STILL No Changes our champ from 2023 is leading the charge on 198 points, closely followed by Chaddy’s Champs who took 3rd place in 2024……..whilst lurking in third and ready to pounce is Katie FC on 182 points……that of course assumes no transfers have been made during this break……all will be revealed after the deadline!

Going back to the subject of points left on the bench Mr 55p made a very early bid for the ignominy of having the highest total for points left on the bench……………commiserations Mr 55p a massive 35 points on the bench……..with the agony prolonged by that team sitting on your phone for two whole weeks whilst you waited for the interminable international break to end! Roll on 11:00 on Saturday morning and all will be good in the world again!

That’s all for this week, time to get your teams ready tomorrow and remember some of those players have had long trips back, particularly those that have been to South America so choose those players at your peril!

Good luck and all the best from all of us at the Evie Dove Foundation.
