Anna Pickard

Please briefly describe your clinical/medical experience to date?

I am currently working as a Paediatric Asthma and Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Princess Royal University Hospital, part of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and I have been in this role for over 2 years. In my current role I undertake nurse led asthma and allergy clinics, and review patients with asthma and allergy conditions on the ward. I have been a Children’s nurse for 15 years. I have 10 years’ experience in working within three different London Paediatric Emergency Departments and trauma centres, providing me with a wealth of paediatric emergency experience, clinical skills and knowledgebase. Where I have assessed, treated and cared for a range of patients from minor injuries and illnesses to medical and surgical emergencies, and due to both hospital’s trauma statuses; a variety of paediatric trauma patients.

What motivated you to enter paediatric care in the first place?

As I have a passion for working with children, and I find being a children’s nurse very rewarding. Particularly in my current role as a asthma and allergy CNS where I am able to provide a lot of support and guidance to children and their families.

How will the funding from The Evie Dove Foundation help you to advance your career and your impact/services to children?

The funding from the Evie Dove foundation will allow me to complete the Paediatric Advanced Assessment course. The course will help to enhance my current role as a paediatric asthma and allergy clinical nurse specialist, and expand my current skillset and knowledgebase further. This will also improve patient safety and experience. The course will also enable me to potentially undertake non-medical prescribing and the rest of the advanced nurse practitioner course and role in the future .

How did you find out about The Evie Dove Foundation?
