Please briefly describe your clinical/medical experience to date?
I have worked on Paediatric Critical Care for 17 years. In October 2025, I was promoted to Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Manager following two years as a Band 6 Junior Sister within the Outreach Team. In this role, I provide expert clinical leadership across the Hospital, supporting the early recognition and management of deteriorating children through the enhanced use of the National Paediatric Early Warning Score (NPEWS) system. I work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely escalation, deliver critical care interventions at ward level, and support decision-making that helps prevent deterioration and reduce unnecessary Paediatric Critical Care admissions.
A key aspect of my role involves responding to urgent clinical situations, including participation in the hospital’s 2222 cardiac arrest response team, management of children requiring advanced respiratory and cardiovascular support, and responding to Martha’s Rule referrals. I provide specialist advice and support to nursing, medical and allied health professionals, ensuring that escalation pathways are appropriately followed and that children receive the right care at the right time.
I am passionate about improving patient outcomes and experiences. My role includes reviewing all patients discharged from Paediatric Critical Care to ensure safe transitions to ward environments, identifying and addressing concerns from patients and families, supporting unplanned end-of-life care when required, and promoting best practice across the organisation. I am committed to maintaining high standards of clinical care, developing others, and fostering a culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.
