Emma Sheehan

Please briefly describe your clinical/medical experience to date?

I am an Operating Department Practitioner. I have been qualified for 8 years and have worked in a variety of hospitals including; a DGH, private hospitals (doing anaesthetics and recovery) and I currently work at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital in Paediatric Pre-assessment.

What motivated you to enter paediatric care in the first place?

From my very first paediatric placement as a student in the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, to joining Spire Healthcare and being promoted to the paediatric link lead for theatres, to later joining the anaesthetic team at the Evelina. I knew this was the speciality for me.

How will the funding from The Evie Dove Foundation help you to advance your career and your impact/services to children?

The funding for this module will enable me to complete my BSc Hons in Professional Practice (top-up degree). It will provide me with personal and professional development and will hopefully enable my career progression from Band 6 to 7, as a degree is required to reach this level.

How did you find out about The Evie Dove Foundation?

Tell us about yourself!

I live with my partner in Kent, not far from where I grew up. I enjoy travelling and seeing new places! Especially visiting Portugal as this is where my partner is from and the food is amazing. I love practicing yoga and pilates in my spare time, as well as spending time with family and friends as this is very important to me.

Anything else you would like to tell us about your experience, future aspirations and motivations?

I am interested in continually developing our healthcare service and improve the quality of patient care.
