Please briefly describe your clinical/medical experience to date?
I am currently work at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Community Child Health, and have done for the last 5 years and also a Wellbeing Nurse Advisor for Staff in Paediatric,Neonates and Maternity. Prior to this I worked in a variety of Inpatient and Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health settings for 20 years. My first job was as a Care assistant in a Special Care Baby Unit-my career has always been with Children and their Families.
What motivated you to enter paediatric care in the first place?
Babies, children and young people represent hope in the future and therefore are very precious to their families, carers and those who look after them. The impact of kindness and support by Health Care professionals is never forgotten, even when outcomes aren’t as wished.
How will the funding from The Evie Dove Foundation help you to advance your career and your impact/services to children?
The Funding will enable me to explore the impact of Kindness in the workplace through the Course-Psychology of Kindness and Wellbeing at work PG Cert. I hope that I can share my learning with Staff to show importance of this
