Please briefly describe your clinical/medical experience to date?
I worked as a paediatric haematology /oncology nurse at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada for 9 years.
I also worked as an Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist for 2.5 years at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Upon moving to the UK, I worked as Adult Haematology/HIV Oncology CNS at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for 15 months.
I have been in my current role as Paediatric Palliative Care CNS since January 2026.
What motivated you to enter paediatric care in the first place?
After working in Haem/Onc for 6 months, I developed a strong passion for caring for children who’s cancer could not be cured. I felt that this type of nursing was more meaningful, flexible, tailored to what was most important for the child and family every day.
I pursued my MN with subject specialization in Palliative Care at The University of Toronto , graduating in 2021. It has always been my dream to work in paediatric palliative care.
How will the funding from The Evie Dove Foundation help you to advance your career and your impact/services to children?
It will help me network with other institutions to ensure the service I am setting up is in line with other centres’ best practices, to ensure my knowledge is up to date with best practice, and to disseminate learning in the form of education sessions to doctors and nurses at KCH.
