Please briefly describe your clinical/medical experience to date?
I have been working over 25 years with children (always in intensive care) and in my new stage of life I decided to become an Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
This new role has enabled me to apply the medical knowledge to cure when possible but my nursing background enables me to care in a holistic way – not only for the child but the family. Never forgetting the humanity in medicine and the experiences that the child, siblings, parents live in such a stressful time whilst in intensive care.
I might not remove the stress but I can be a friendly, comforting face!
What motivated you to enter paediatric care in the first place?
It was destiny – I started my career in adult intensive care and this led me to children.
They are such a great population to look after. They bring a different perspective of life – they remind us that simple things are the core of happiness.
How will the funding from The Evie Dove Foundation help you to advance your career and your impact/services to children?
This conference will enable me to acquire new knowledge within the field; allow for networking with different disciplines and professionals from other countries and give me food for thought for implementing change in my practise and workplace.
How did you find out about The Evie Dove Foundation?
Thanks to my colleagues from work.
Our patients have benefitted from the knowledge gained through your funded courses.
Tell us about yourself!
I really enjoy hot yoga – it really connects me with my inner-self and allows me to put things into perspective. Having said that, I have just taken up fencing, It is so much fun! I wish one day I will master the foil.
Another passion of mine is interior design…it truly switches on my creative side. I have got a superfun, well natured flat coat retriever called Fosco – he is happiness itself but the joy of my life are my children Jaime and Ines.
Anything else you would like to tell us about your experience, future aspirations and motivations?
Always keep a healthy curiosity in all scopes of your life and never forget to give something good back to the society.
